One of the things I wanted to do before Logan came was to have everything I might need on hand, which is why I did all of the stockpiling for our household things (I wrote more about that here and here), convenience items and spent a lot of time doing freezer cooking.
One of the things I thought about a couple of weeks ago when I couldn’t sleep one night was the fact that I really needed to have some hefty nutrition-packed smoothie ingredients on hand that I could have conveniently together so I could throw them together without thinking about it, or ask Ian to do it without having to ask him to add anything special into the mix.
With Autumn I had a good milk supply until I started pumping almost exclusively, I took More Milk Plus with great results but I didn’t want to have to worry about taking a pill this time because my stomach can be sensitive. Since I was already making the stuff for smoothies anyway, I decided to mix the supplements I planned on adding so they were all in one place for convenience’ sake.
Here is what I included:
- rolled oats
- chia seeds
- flax meal
This is what I happened to have on hand, there are probably some great things I could have added to make this mix even better, but I’m happy with it. Anything to make the postpartum transition easier, and healthier, right?
Have you ever made anything like this? If so, I would love some more ideas for dry ingredients to add to the mix. I have lots of wet things frozen for my smoothies, but my list of dry ingredients was a little meager!
